Wolves can’t afford too many losses, there’s too many good teams in the west. They also need to get Randle and Divincenzo acclimated. Facts are TSJ is a couple injuries away from playing time on that team.

Tonight either. He and Dillingham have no minutes. Wolves going with a very short bench. 8 guys with 20 or minutes tonight. Ninth guy with 4.
still not playing.
what is the coaches logic in that , with your first round draft choice?

They have really good, established players. The late offseason trade to bring in Randle & DiVencenzo not only pushed TJ farther down the depth chart, but upset team chemistry. A rookie’s development isn’t high on the coach’s list of priorities coming off a run to the Western Conference Finals. He’s trying to win games.
Half of the roster hasn’t played a minute, including Dillingham, the #8 overall pick.

To have only played 9 players total (and Joe Ingles has played single-digit minutes each game, it's really only an 8 man rotation) through 5 games in the NBA is extremely unusual, and won't be sustainable.

With their big trade happening so late, perhaps it reflects a desire to see their big pieces jell together? That's all I can really think of.

Minnesota is an extremely expensive team and with the new NBA CBA they have very limited ability to add more. They looked like they were going to be forced to rely on TSJ due to lack of other options, but the trade brought them a slight bit of flexibility, and it was obvious that DiVincenzo was going to soak up a lot of the role TSJ would have been thrust into by necessity.

But yeah, it's not just a TSJ thing, Dillingham hasn't played a single minute either. It's weird.

The season is a grind, their time will come.
