I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Podz news. We were done talking about him...for the most part...and now he's talking smack?

I JUST posted that I was going to stay quiet until this year's roster is, in toto, running up and down the floor in Ubben. But this clip got my attention. I wonder how many points made in the video will be thoughtfully --- that's an insult --- discussed or even noticed.

Trent Defense >> Podz
Plummer 3 pt shot >> Podz

The truth may very well be what he was told by coach. If he was told the standard line of earning playing time in practice, then no beef here.

If he was run off, like being told he had no chance, then that’d be an issue but inconsistent with the way Ty and DGL were handled.

I imagine this conversation has been had here already - and I know it's not productive - but I'm bummed to see Podz take a shot at Illinois on Twitter. I've been rooting for him since he left, and I know of lot of y'all have too.

Thing is, that roster won the B1G. It was Kofi surrounded by shooters and defense, and Podz wasn't really doing either his freshman year.

Who was he going to play over? Frazier and DMFW were super seniors, along with Plummer who was shooting the lights out. Curbelo was coming off a dynamite freshman year and played well until the concussion. Goode shot better and worked harder on defense. Melendez...maybe? But then you're quibbling whether you're the 6th or 7th guard in the depth chart freshman year.

And when he transferred, it's not like power 5 options were lining up for his services. He went to Santa Clara where he could just shoot as much as he wanted without penalty, and it worked out for him. Good for him.

I took it more as, I always knew I could play at this level and it just took time for me to prove it to all of you.

But maybe it was a shot, and he’s one of those cats that needs to take everything personal to motivate himself. If that’s what works for him have at it.

He’s salty he wasn’t good enough to play here, instead of proud of himself for putting in the work and maximizing his opportunity at the mid major level.
Or both. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. And no reason he shouldn’t be salty about not getting playing time. I’m sure that helped fuel his improvement and great season he had at Santa Clara.

I think it was a bit of a shot, but he is the only one on that team with the NBA logo currently next to his name. Like you said, find motivation where you can. Nothing wrong with that

Frazier and Curbelo were injured at the same time. DFW and Hawkins were used at the point. Both did a poor job. Podz stayed on the bench. I'd be a little salty, especially since he knows that he is a better player than everyone who was on that team.

If those 2 were injured and Podz still wasn’t getting opportunities that tells you all you need to know. He was earning it however he needed to be earning it.

Nico and DGL got opportunities on our best team in 20 years.

For all those Edey haters...

He may surprise a lot of people, but I’d be wary about pointing out a betting projection as some sort of vindication of the pro Edey argument.

He can’t do what he did in college to the same degree, so we will see if he’s evolved his game to prove people wrong or if he is unplayable and the Edey haters were right all along.

Edit: I don’t really care either way, but if I had to pick a side, I’d say I’m doubtful of him having that level of success.
