Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread

I don’t disagree with any takes on Scheyer here, but I’m guessing they’re pretty satisfied with their pick for now..
Yeah, I’m guessing the large majority are satisfied right now. He’s had at worse two very solid years and recruited phenomenally well.
I was curious how “bad” he has done, so looked it up.

Overall 54-18 (BU in same span, 49-22)
Conf 29-11 (25-15)
2022 T-3rd (T-5th)
2023. 2nd (2nd)
Conf T champs 1 (1)
2022 Round of 32 (R of 64)
2023. Elite Eight (Elite Eight)

Problem is Duke fans expect to see a championship sometime soon. And detractors will say, yeah but considering the talent he has . . . But not like he can’t improve on his performance after only 2 years. I think BU is a much better coach now than he was in his first two years at Illinois and I’m not speaking about record or talent he’s brought in. Just overall a better coach now versus then. And those weren’t BU’s first years as a head coach anywhere.

Their elite 8 team was a fluke. They got incredibly lucky that Shead got hurt and Houston fell apart.

Illinois would have shredded Duke if they played in the tourney last year.

This is a big year for him. It's a little like Calipari, he can get the elite one-and-done superstars, can he make elite teams out of it?
he made an Elite 8 in his 2nd year, has been 27-9 both years. I know Duke has high expectations, but who's upset with that?

I think those elite freshmen are going to look a lot better as soon as the 35 year olds are no longer allowed to play, which I believe starts this year right?
