I only have seen videos but Riley is an "elite" shooter whether stationary or on the move. Put that together with his size 6'8" and he is impossible to defend. He does need to get rid of the low release layups. Those are going to get swatted into the bleachers.

I believe Nick Smith was the Florida Parade magazine player of the year...which may tell you all you need to know about Parade magazine.

Efrem was MVP of McDonalds all star game. Had size, strength and shooting ability. Never had footwork of Akeem. He worked construction after leaving Illinois. Bruce Douglas was really the centerpiece of the 84 team with complementary pieces Altenberger 6'4 SF, Montgomery 6'8 center, Richardson 6' at SG.

I'm just saying, if they re-rank Riley into the 2024 class, expect him to be lower, and don't look at that as some negative judgment on him as a player, that's just the inherent mechanics of how it works.

Regardless, if we get Riley this is still the most incoming freshman talent we've had since the Dee/Deron class and perhaps longer than that.

And it's the most new talent brought into the program in a single offseason ever, bar none, such is the uniqueness of PortalWorld. I don't like having to get to know a whole new roster of players every year and I hope the sport trends away from that, but what an exciting and interesting new roster.

Actually, to punctuate this debate...

Will Riley currently has a .9939 247Sports Composite. A .9939 would put him 20th among 2024 recruits.

For comparison, it would have been 17th in 2023, 18th in 2022, 17th in 2021, and 18th in 2020.

Assuming 247Composite is comparable in such a fashion, it does seem like the 2024 class is maybe a bit weaker at the top then the last few years.

None of this really matters. We all know there's a range of outcomes on how productive Riley is next season. Some more likely than others, of course, But we're all just guessing, really.

And yet I think we all have to agree that the odds of "definitive success" for a Top 20 Five-Star are probably 90%+. High probability he gets lots of PT in the NBA.

Aaaaaah, logic. It is refreshing. Thank you.

I’m looking for Humrichous to be a leader on this team, and I say that knowing very little about him. You know the kid is a worker having gone from Huntington University to the Missouri Valley and improving his overall and 3-point shooting in spite of moving up a level. At worst he should at least be a leader by example, and if he embraces a leadership role as the oldest guy on the team, even better.

Efrem was also the most hyped in my opinion He was the start of turning around a program that had been improving steadily under Henson, but really skyrocketed us to a national program to be reckoned with.
Ken Colliers Norman would have been in this class as well but did not have the grades to get admitted and attended JC for two years and was an absolute stud. Had a long NBA career as well

he's gonna have to prove it on the court. assuming he does, yeah, I think he'll be a leader. I think leadership is gonna be by committee with this team

No disrespect meant, but are you trying to meet your sports cliches quota for the day? 😁

I’d argue most teams have leadership by committee, which is why I said a leader rather than the. And if you mean has to give his all on the court in practice and games, I agree. Seems like a guy who will given what appears to be a strong work ethic. But I wouldn’t put a floor numbers-wise he needs to hit to be a leader. Obviously he can’t suck, but I think most would agree DMFW was a leader despite less than sparkling numbers.

Enough about that though, let’s get a boom soon so we can start Life with Riley.

MPJ was also pretty athletic until his back issues started popping up.

Training Wheels Durant!
I was referring to Porter as a high school senior. Built bigger, could hit the 3 but was all around better player. Played more interior.

Add Meents and Altenberger to this list. And we were really close to landing Billy thompson, who ended up at L'ville

Larry bird with even more hair.
Bird was my first thought. He does pretty much everything on offense except play above the rim. Point stretch forward forward shooting guard that can also post up?

One year of JuCo. He then transferred, sat out a year, and played 3 at Illinois.
