If/when David Jones enters the portal and goes elsewhere this board is going to implode lmao
Does anyone know if he would be a grad transfer? I guess I assume so as a 5th year but not sure.

We have to spend though - we’ll never have another opportunity to capitalize on last seasons success and get some big donors to contribute a little more for some real difference makers than right now. Fland would be huge from a future recruiting standpoint and David Jones would immediately replace TSJ. I have to think Brad could get the dollars to make a very competitive offer to both of themFland and Jones would cost a lot of cash.
I'd be ok early in the season to see Ty play a little "Booty Ball" and see how it goes.Hawkins at the 5 as a plus shooter created the freedom for Ty to thrive.
You put a non-shooter rim protector in the middle and you’re playing WoodsonBall with a Ty type out there and the space doesn’t exist for his darting little layups
A total non-shooter as a perimeter player is a tough sell in modern basketball.
Exactly. And it's not my cash so I don't care.“So and so is gonna cost a lot of cash” well we gotta spend it on someone
Agree, but where the cash starts mattering is when other programs have more. That’s the train wreck that is coming with NIL. I mean what if Microsoft committed $250 million to Gonzaga??? Just sayingExactly. And it's not my cash so I don't care.
I know, I couldn't resist.I feel like some nuance of my post was lost here
Ty does like to post up, but if the shot isn't initially there for him it all goes awry.I'd be ok early in the season to see Ty play a little "Booty Ball" and see how it goes.
If he could pull that off...I actually think we're going to see significant improvement in Rodgers this year. Gotta think the coaches are going to push him hard to get a mid-range jumper that's consistent.
I for one am appalled at your positive attitude at this time of great turmoil and mourning!Sending out a reminder this morning for everyone to REELLLLAAAXXX. As it currently stands, we have the #7 247 Portal Class, per reports a large portion of our NIL money left to spend, and we just picked up one of the best recruiters/assistant coaches in the country.
The future is no where near as bleak as the current sentiment on this board. Take a deep breath and smile y'all. It is a new, weird world of college hoops, but everything will be ok.

I was actually going to edit my post, but I ran out of time. Didn't know you only have 15 minutes to edit. (It sounds like we actually agree on what Humrichous is, but I guess I was hoping he could take a step forward as far as being a playmaker goes. I wonder if having a great lob target could help with that.). Anyway, I'll paste what I typed in my edit below:I know, I couldn't resist.
To just put a very generalized point on it though, Humrichous is not a creator, he's not a distributor, he's not a guy you want the ball in the hands of all the time.
He's a dangerous weapon standing in the corner, and that threat opens up the floor for others to create.
Sounds like you could use a helping hand this morning.I for one am appalled at your positive attitude at this time of great turmoil and mourning!
Mast does also have a pretty decent back-to-the-basket post bag, though. Haven't really seen that much from the Humrichous stuff I've seen.I see Humrichious being a version of Rienk Mast with better shooting and worse defense. Solid pickup overall though if we got him.
For a quick comparison of Domask to HumrichousI know, I couldn't resist.

Guys, booty ball was not a Brad Underwood thing, it's not a system Illinois is building towards, it's not a secret to unlock offensive performance, it was a solution to make the best of Marcus Domask's particular skills on a 5-out team with no real point guard.
Posting up a guard can always be a stealth weapon, especially against certain matchups, but running your whole offense through that action is a terrible idea unless you stumble into a weird set of player characteristics as we did last year.
To synthesize both of the above responses, we know very little about next year's team, but the one thing we can be sure of is the offense will be initiated by and run through Kylan Boswell, the 5-star starter for Pac12 champion Arizona. Our experiments with non-PG basketball are over for the time being.
Two things.I was actually going to edit my post, but I ran out of time. Didn't know you only have 15 minutes to edit. Edit: Actually I'll elaborate a little bit. I wasn't really directly comparing players, I said they should study their actions as a model. But while I said something about Humrichous/Onyenso not approaching one of the best players in the world in proficiency, I could have probably worded that more strongly.
However, I do see Humrichous's effectiveness in the pick and roll as probably the primary way that he could become more than Quincy Guerrier version 2, except version 2 is a better shooter but worse rebounder.
But, if he can be good at running PnR, and do things like shoot over smaller defenders, shoot over defenders going under the screen, or putting a defender in jail on his back that goes over and then making a play, then I think we're getting somewhere. And along those lines, I think Onyenso becoming an elite lob target is perhaps the easiest way to boost his previously lackluster offensive output. But to do that he needs a good PnR ball handler/shooter/passer to work with. That could be someone like Boswell or maybe even Coleman if he comes back, but it also seems like it Humrichous could play that role well too.
