Another Juco not mentioned Cleotis Brown had some good years for us as well. Averaged almost 8 his junior year and 9 his senior. Plus he was a hustle kinda player gave it everything game in game out.

Last time I saw someone attack the rim like this his name was Kenny Battle. Yes please a thousand times YES!!

Was almost going to post Trice appeared to be a Kenny Battle look-alike with the dunks and tenacity. Yet, until he wins the Kenny Battle Award, will have to put that on hold until after his first year as an Illini. He definitely would bring joy to BU's heart with a high percentage shot around the rim. The only question - does Trice bank-in free throws consistently? :D

Just curious as to why you believe Jordan could be a beast next year? In my opinion he is what he is. He's a decent shooter with a low release point which needs lots of space to get his shot off against top competition. He's just an average athlete, not even that quick, no real hops to speak of. Simply put hes a MAC or MVC level player. What keeps him on the floor is his hustle the guys works harder than probably anyone else on the team besides Black. Just don't see any reason or indication that he could be any better than he already is. I think Finke and maybe Lucas transfer out to give us a 4 man class. With that said Im gonna say that class will consist Dosunmu, Ramey or Jacobs, Trice, and Cunningham. I just have a gut feeling that Cunningham is coming, last time I felt that way we got Mike Thorne as a transfer. If those pieces fall in place we are a tournament team in my opinion.

I think that Jordan has been one of the best passers we have. Look at the alley opp passes he has made these past few games.

He also does a good job on the boards.

Hopefully, he can find a way to get his shot off more consistently.

He is Illini through and through and I support anyone who bleeds orange and blue.

Chris Payton reminds me of the Nebraska type player that is solid, especially against us. Unless we are in great shape with Kahil Whitney and EJ, he is worth a hard look.

Was wondering what everyone's dream class vs. expected class looks like as of now?
Dream Class- Ayo, Ramey, Tevian Jones, Blake Hinson, Cunningham
Expected- Ayo, Demarcus Jacobs, Trice, Tevian Jones, Big 5th Year guy to eat up minutes

Well you can start with poor attitude with a capital A.

Refresh our memory a lil what did he do that was so bad to make you think he had a bad attitude? I personally don't recall any issues with him I always thought he was a solid player.

Do you understand that recruits from years past with different coaches, and teams has nothing to do with future recruits? No impact, no bearing, no relevance. I get the feeling some of the posters have no understanding of simple logic.

I get the same feeling often on this board

It's extremely unlikely that we take 5 guys.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Not saying Trice et al. wouldn't be good additions, especially given the void, but ignoring past JUCO players' performances just because we have a new coach is a poor idea. I'm sure the list of JUCO players who didnt pan out in P6 conference schools is much longer than those who did.

If anyone has ideas for better players who UI could realistically land, I’m sure Underwood would love to know about them. Maybe we can show these young men some of the staticky SD highlight videos on YouTube from the 1989 and 2005 teams and say, “See. The last 10+ years of sucking are just an anomaly. Come see the corn and cows.”

I’m not sure empty scholarships are in any way better than having athletes you might be able to mold into contributers but, hey, what do I know. :noidea:

Right, but once again what does it mean to be successful? Was Sam McLaurin (not a JUCO but same difference) successful? He averaged 3.8 pts and 3.4 reb in 20 min. Any outsider would look at that and say he was bad. But every Illini fan knows he played a big part in making the tournament that year.

Would rather have Trice or Taylor than another Thorne honestly. :chief:

Over/under 4.5. I'll take the over. Pretty confident it will be 5 or 6.

Well it has to be 4 or 5 we are not taking anyone under 6' afterall...so with that I take the 5. Ayo, Trice, Taylor, Jacobs and 5th year.:chief:

My recollection is that Keller was a good kid with a quirky stroke who occasionally threw in a circus shot. He gave us a couple solid years of depth at the 4.

Wasn’t he benched during the BIG tournament? Can’t remember what he did.

His injury really derailed him. Not saying Thorne would've been an all b1g player, but he was showing potential before he tore his ACL. Wasn't half the player he was once he came back. He had an offer from Kentucky for a reason.

TBH any C we've had over the past decade would be a welcome addition to this team. I refuse to label Finke or Vesel a center. This team has a 500th ranked freshman center and thats it.

Not a P6, but Gonzaga built an elite program & for a lot of years many of their primary players were from JUCO.
