Illinois Football Uniforms

pretty sure those unis were one offs and they should be . they meant something yesterday . they won’t mean anything special in a month or a year if you repeat it
I respectfully disagree with you here. If you wear them every year at homecoming, it becomes a homecoming tradition celebrating the long history of Illinois football history at Memorial stadium, which was launched--amazingly--with one of the greatest performances in the history of sports. Every televised homecoming game it would be the talking point of the pregame, reminding the world of the that glorious history.

This is an excellent idea. I’ve been thinking of “once only” but this keeps the uniforms special and historic.

What uniform combo have we NOT lost in, last week’s beauties notwithstanding.
I meant PSU. That's every I get for watching OSU today and trying to post. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Some of the insiders have all but said BB is superstitious and was going to wear the slant Illinois until we lost in them. That's why I wasn't surprised to see the Block I back.

It would have been cool to do a take on the 2007 set, but let's make history in these ones now.

So we have the military appreciation helmet (red, white and blue Block I) this Saturday vs. Minnesota, and we are at least officially supposed to wear the regular/default Block I helmet the following Saturday for Michigan State. That leaves Rutgers on the road and Northwestern at Wrigley unannounced.

My Prediction
at Rutgers:
Default Block I with an O/W/O combo ... we go back to the orange pants on the road after losing at Oregon, but we stubbornly "hold back" on wearing a throwback helmet for no good reason at all.
at Northwestern: Slant ILLINOIS with an O/W/W combo ... aka exactly what we wore the last time we beat them at Wrigley, and the staff/team are fans of white pants on the road for some reason. Plus, it just feels right that we get to see my favorite (by far) of the throwback helmets (Arched ILLINI) way back on September 14th only to never see them again.

What I WANT
at Rutgers:
Arched ILLINI with an O/W/B combo ... good GOD, it is well past time to see #BPOTR, and this is one of our last chances!!!!! Someone is trolling us at this point, haha. And as previously mentioned, I think this is by far our coolest throwback helmet.
at Northwestern: Slant ILLINOIS with an O/O/W combo ... in a perfect world, we get to NOT wear white to visually emphasize that this will in no way be a Northwestern home game, and RE: the helmet ... even though I sometimes hate on it, (A) it looked great with the orange uniform vs. Kansas and (B) it was what we wore the last time we beat NU at Wrigley, so we at least channel SOME of that juju. Oh, and I actually really like our white pants ... just not with a white jersey. SO, this is the time to use 'em.

Also ... I am not exactly a "design" person, lol. However, I had some fun trying to put a modern spin our 1980s uniforms with the EA Team Builder website. Imagine it with our arched ILLINI helmet, haha.

I actually kind of like the extra stripes from that era.

I dig memorializing the names on the white helmet stripes! And GO NAVY!!!
