Just used Snipping Tool, PowerPoint, and Paint...I understand that this is far from perfect, but I am not a graphic designer!

Better than I could have done! I’m about as Team Script as they come, but it’s GOTTA be this version. The other one just ain’t it. It’s actually bewildering we’d take a wildly successful and popular cursive font that we already have and make a way worse one when we need to chop off three letters… 😂

No script on the helmet, not now, not ever.

Meh, I certainly prefer the Block I ... a helmet logo, IMO, should not be too tall or too wide, which writing is always going to be. However, I do not think it would look bad at all to get the basketball script font and shorten it into "Illini," as it is a short enough word that does not take up that much space. Again, I prefer the Block I, but I think these examples look pretty good and ours would look better:

Again, while not endorsing the script ... I actually think these look better than everything above, especially the white one:

Come to think of it, I think the only reason I am not 110% Team Script when it comes to the helmets is that I just generally don't think we should wear white helmets and we should stick with orange ... because if I take that belief out of the equation, I find that white script one above to be DAMN slick, and it would look even better with a shortened "Illini" on it.

I agree with you. If we wear white helmets for a game every few years, that script one would be the way to go. By far the best version of our white helmets that I've seen.

again, just me...the metallic orange helmet with the blue block I was my all time favorite. especially with the blue
uni and orange numbers, no trim. seems to throw back to another era but really new. best of both worlds.

I'll echo what others have said with regard to the outline ... if you want to go no outline and just go full-on "simple classic" or whatever, our font needs to match that:

I think the reason our current set looks so jarring, at least to me, is we take this SUPER simple (dare I say boring) color scheme with no outlines or stripes ... and we combine it with these weird, kind of futuristic, "try-hard" trendy numbers on the front. It looks disjointed and just kind of plain combining those two types of styles.

I don't even care about the white pants (I NEVER complained about this during the Zook Era unlike some other posters, I liked them!), what I would give to have the throwbacks above with the following changes:

- Block I on the helmet
- Switch blue/white stripe pattern on the helmet
- Very faint white outline on the number

I actually think white pants look great for us when we have only blue and orange above that. That B/O/B stripe on the white pants looks REAL nice.

I can get behind this except for the block I. I like Illini in script (old version).

In 20 years few fans will be able to read cursive. Younger fans will have to ask their grandparents “grandpa, what does that say on the helmet?”

Love this look.

Okie State just released their uniform refresh. Considering they are a Nike school and I also see some of what is rumored for us I thought I would share.
They've needed to tone it down for awhile now. I like those. Still need to decide on a helmet.

Anyway, I wouldn't take too much from that from an Illinois perspective given that it's trying to be a very faithful reproduction of the Barry Sanders (and Mike Gundy) era uniforms.

my youngest son graduated from Ok State in 2017. They have been at the forefront of helmet and uniform design pretty much for 10 years.
Oregon is just too wild for me.
oSu seems to have it right

he graduated in 4 while paying about 60% due to academic scholly. got into ISU grad school for free , and ended up with an awesome job at an international engineering firm in Boston in 2019.

All in all, it worked out pretty good for him. Zero student loans as the 60% we paid for at oSu was not that much back then (about 16,000 per year incl r&b)

I have nothing but good things to say about that school

From Illinois Football account, looks like the Script Illinois is hiding behind the smaller picture of Casey Washington…got a feeling it’s going to be incorporated.
Nice catch on that, I bet you are right. . . but I wonder where it would be, as I doubt the helmets are changed that dramatically.

Same. As I said before, I prefer the Block I helmet with the colors of the stripes flipped, but those script helmet mock-ups look great. I’d also be totally cool with script Illinois just becoming our secondary logo ala a logo like UCLA.
