Nothing like replying to your own post. I also remember watching Hooman in h.s. He was a beast.
personally, I prefer talking to myself

Brent and Hooman both played for Bloomington Central Catholic (at the same time). That school and football field are about 8 blocks from our house.Remember that time. Zook was on a run. Brent was highly recruited but still a tad underrated. Hooman was off the radar underrated. Two NFL players from the same HS (In-state). That was a good time then if you followed the Illini.
It’s a shame he was never able to put together a consistent big ten level coaching staff.Remember that time. Zook was on a run. Brent was highly recruited but still a tad underrated. The waste of talent during his tenure was mind bogglingIt’s a shame he was never able to put together a consistent big ten level coaching staff.
With his recruiting ability they very easily could have went on a 7-8-9 win run annually through the mid-late 2010’s and elevated the program. Which is what Bret has done.
I mean a Zook's gonna Zook. You don't hire the Zooker for the game management or player discipline. Honestly of all the coaches we've had in the past 30 years Zook was the coach where we got pretty much a 100% exact match to what everyone thought we'd get.The waste of talent during his tenure was mind boggling
Locksley was great but follow up with Schultz was so bad. Wasted the Juice. It’s a shame he was never able to put together a consistent big ten level coaching staff.

I remember that HS, having lived in Elmhurst for 1/2 my childhood. They don't often have FB players that go to D1, IIRC good for him

IC has gotten pretty good last 10 or so years, lots of kids on scholarship to go there for football, not sure how many d1 but lots have gone to play in college.I remember that HS, having lived in Elmhurst for 1/2 my childhood. They don't often have FB players that go to D1, IIRC good for him
I have a buddy with a tie to that family.
clearly a battle now. really hope Stepp reels him in

It’s funny people on here have been saying iccp is an ABI program. Also they’ve had several d1 players recently. Kyle Karner signed with Texas A&M, kj Parker signed with Iowa and Don Holeck is at ND. They also have a dt from this class that’s committed to NIU. They’re one of the best small school programs
My niece went to IC...graduated in 2024 with Eric Karner (not Kyle)...she was actually dating him for a while. She is now a manager for Illini Football (loves it) and Karner never suited up for A&M. He transferred to Miami (OH). Anyway...yes, IC has produced some good teams recently. They won state in their division in 2023 and have produced some D1 kids. The last 10 years IC has been one of the best small schools in state. They’re up there with Lena and Rochester.
I went to IC for 8 years of grade school back in the day when Driscoll Catholic was the dominant football small school in our area. Didn’t IC gain a lot of those families after Driscoll closed? The last 10 years IC has been one of the best small schools in state. They’re up there with Lena and Rochester.
