Welcome Alec Bryant. Great pickup for the team. A 4 star out of TX. I noticed we did offer him his senior year. He will help out.

Shadow Creek is a legit athletic power in a ridiculously athletically talented Houston metro.

The school is less than 10 years old and has played for football state titles and been ranked top 5 in basketball. Any inroads made to shadow creek, even through the transfer portal from va tech are worth it.

MSU appears to have gotten their selection of former NFL DC right.

Still early, but seems to be recruiting well and they stated to put it together last year, playing scrappy and competitive.

ESL's Luther Burden (5* WR) decommits from OU. Have to think he'll wind up at Mizzou. Would have been nice if Lovie didn't kill that ESL relationship

Simeon, I agree that East St. Louis must be a priority school to recruit. Hopefully we start recruiting there hard going forward.

Correct me if my memory is off but isn't East St. Louis off limits this year due to Terry Hawthorne coming from their staff and being in a non-field position with Illinois?

Yep, that is correct. Can start with '23s. We pretty much conceded ESL to Mizzou and they were ecstatic to be granted such a gift.

Shawn Miller and Owen Anderson are graduating early and will enroll in January.

Normally this would be intriguing for scholarship number reasons but with every program needing to re-comply with the scholarship limitations starting next year I am guessing this won't move the needle for recruiting reasons.

Three Rivals publishers are predicting Allen to Illinois.

Not bad!

Step 1: Identify the kind of hidden gems that Iowa and Wisconsin seem to always bring in.

Step 2: Land said gems over said rivals.

Next up: Can we develop these gems like at Iowa and Wisconsin do? Excited to find out.

Feagin is the big battle brewing for the staff in 2023. If they can land him it will be a great sign for how recruiting can be maintained and even improved as it relates to top-5 in-state recruits.

Wonder if the staff is done on the defensive line now that they've added Allen and Alec Bryant. My guess is they'll just sift through the transfer portal after the year to see if they can find a quasi starter for the interior and not add another HS recruit.

Would guess they go hard for Selah Brown, but otherwise yeah idk how many other HS lineman they are going after this year
