Love the momentum, but really would be nice to get that "breakthrough" commit. Like the guys we have now, but getting a 4 star or high 3 star with multiple high profile offers to jump on board would really get this thing going.

I see he went to Wake. But no longer.

“Casey Washington is an outstanding young man and I wish him the best as he moves forward in his academic and athletic career,” Coach Dave Clawson said in a statement. “The academic circumstances behind him entering the transfer portal are through no fault of Casey, but moving on to another school is the best option for him and his family. Our staff will support Casey‘s immediate eligibility at his next institution.”

Curious. I heard nothing about him not being in good standing here, so I have no idea why there would be issues at Wake.
No idea but I’ll speculate…
‘No fault of his own’. I take this as grades are good.
Credits should transfer from Illinois.
Issue could be related to major/ requirements/pathway to graduation in a reasonable timeframe.

yes has to be some ridiculous admissions stuff. I just don’t understand how an athlete in good standing can have issue with academics from one major institution transferring to another. I’ll go with what admissions decides for JUCOs, but I still recall a few springs back we had issues with the Oklahoma grad transfer WR (like how can we not recognize a degree from OU?).

Per IG looks like we had Aidan Gousby a WR from Fla on campus yesterday. He has track times on his 247 page so I looked him up. He ran a 21.89 (FAT) 200 as a sophomore before Covid in Feb 2020 which is movin. However this year he ran a 23.15. 100 time is 11.22 as a soph and nothing this year (would want receivers at 10.x). I’m not sure what his story is but seems like he has potential at 6’2 185 with that pre-Covid 200 time.

I don't have any info on why but I can share from experience that when an athlete transfers from one to school to another there are often class credits that don't transfer which if that is the case can require them to try to make it up before the next semester. My son transferred from one school to another and he lost 13 credit hours and would have had to take 20 hours to become eligible to receive his scholarship. You have to have x amount of credit hours as you progress towards gradation. He found another school that excepted more of his classes so he transferred there. He carried a 3.25 average in Mechanical Engineering. Sometimes you can have a class that is labeled the same thing and they actually don't cover the same material. But who knows!!!

Official visits almost always go well. If there was ever a year when kids would want to take a bunch of visits, this would be it.
And if you have legitimate power 5 offers, you aren't afraid to make Illinois wait

Official visits this weekend include a couple of 4* guys. No Illinois kids this time. 2-DL, 1-TE, 1-S, 2-WR/DB.

No commits this week it looks like. Hopefully next week!

Brian Allen is an Illinois kid, although he attends a prep school in Connecticut, IIRC.
