Tim Walton decommits

Based on his offers Cincinnati is the next best offer. The rest looks to be MAC level teams. I wonder if the staff told him to look elsewhere based on the most recent commits. Just speculation on my part.

Also welcome Darta. He has a good offer list. He shows offers from Kansas, Kansas St, Houston, Iowa St, and Texas Tech.

He just visited Syracuse. We lost him when Banks was canned.

I like Carmouche and Dele Harding more. Harding is visiting this weekend. It is us vs SMU for Carmouche. Both would be our best recruit and the best LB recruit in a long time

As someone who doesn't follow football recruiting nearly as much as basketball recruiting....

Our top guy is a 3 star? Is that right? Yikes.

Having a 2 year "interim coach" tends to kill your recruiting....

We need athletes. They are in the South not in the Midwest. Teach the athletes to play football. Illinois hasn't had a 4 Star Linebacker since 2004. Carmouche would be our highest rated LB recruit since 2008. Just a bit higher rated than TJ Neal

Interesting stat: Only 5 of 21 commits is from Illinois thus far.

If you look at the highest rated college recruiting teams there are several on the top with just 3 stars. The point being if you do get a lot of 3 stars you will be having a nice recruiting year.

Welcome to the O&B, Darta!

Another Texas kid. I like it. Looks like the CB was 80% to Houston. Ha!

And Doug Kramer is a greyshirt, so he doesn't really count for this class. Talent is in the South. String together 3 bowl games in a row and then we can get Illinois players worthy of the Big Ten. The film of the players from Texas and Florida is just better

Agreed the speed of some of these guys is noticably better. Watch the tapes of David Montgomery RB and Mj McGriff WR who should be on campus this weekend. I really like the speed that they show. McGriff is a little guy but could do wonders in the slot and on KR and PR.

I guess Martez counted as a DE?

I want McGriff for the same reason.

Antonio Shelton

Werner just said on the radio that Antonio Shelton had no offers when he committed to us, but since has had a great senior season. He was recently offered by Rutgers and will visit Penn State this weekend. He expects him to commit to Penn State this weekend

Me too, but I like Tymir Oliver and Myles Adams more even if they have less stars

Antonio Shelton decommits and Andrew Trainer commits in a matter of minutes. Talk about a whirlwind recruiting season

I really like some of recent additions. Some strong offers from recent commits.

Trainer-Pitt, Virginia, V. Tech, Wake Forest, NC State
Lee-Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St, Texas Tech
Oliver-Virginia, Rutgers, Purdue, Pitt, Northwestern, Boston Col
Holcombe-Cal, Colo, Missouri, Purdue, Texas, Texas AM, Washington

So can anyone say whether our recruiting class has become better or worse through the recent sets of commits and de-commits?
