That dude got super mad at that bench. He proceeded to throw it twice away from the field.

Anyone have trouble with the audio stream Dan hyperlinks. For the first time in years, I could not pause the stream to get Barnhart synched up to the tv broadcast? Maybe stream is doing that on purpose now?

And, Whitman said last night in the radio that they are expecting next weeks attendance to be the highest since North Carolina in 2016. The program just feels like it’s trending in the right direction with everything. We just need more me or two major wins to really finish the transformation. I feel like a win this coming weekend could be one of those. We always seem to blow it in games in front of huge crowds. Let’s change that this week.
I was impressed with the student section Thursday, and the West side looked full. Didn’t get a look at the Horseshoe. East side looked sparse.

I only saw the first quarter, so my perspective is pretty limited. The thing that most stood out to me is that we played with energy from the outset and we were sharp. That hasn't always been the case; in years past when we have played inferior teams we have tended to be passive and let them hang around longer than we should have
Defense was more energetic than last year.

We were cracking up in the stands because right after this the guy on the sideline got up and angrily hurled the table into the bench 🤣
Perhaps I'm overreacting to that as a red flag because he's on the sidelines what do you expect lmao

I have to admit that if I can get that DeLorean running, I want to go back to Illinois 33 Iowa 0 in the 1983 season. My dad enjoyed it so much he went to a t-shirt store to get the following put on an 80s white t-shirt with blue sleeves so he could wear it around his Hawkeye fan friends.

Illinois 33 (in orange letters)
Iowa 0 (in yellow letters)

Still my all-time favorite homemade t-shirt ever.
That was a great game to attend in person- I remember it well.

We shall see. Only 8 tickets left in section 209? Maybe those tickets are gone but I don't believe they were sold and/or there will be a fair number of no-shows with those tickets. Why are so many people buying section 209 when there are other seats are available at just a small price increase in other sections?

I will say the turnout last night far exceeded my expectations.

And I don't care how Illinois does it, if they can get all of the tickets into the hands of others, fantastic. Do it. Announce a sell-out. Play loose with the term "sell-out". They won't be the only program to do it.

Regardless, based on last night, it appears Illinois is headed to much better ticket sales in a long time. That is the best part.
It’s band day and I can about promise you those seats in the upper reaches of the corners in the East balcony have been given away to band kids and are not for sale.

The 90 pff grade for Miles was well deserved- he was all over the field making plays. The performance of our DTs was also a really nice surprise- they were stout and won their matchups. As I said in the pregame, I think we have a sneaky good secondary if we can get pressure. Having Miles being able to play a ball hawking free safety while Bailey can creep into the box to lay the boom and shut down the run and short passes is a major plus.

Also not surprised Brooks had such a high rating in his limited snaps- his positioning was far and above better than our other CBs and he ran the EIU receiver's routes better than they did. I believe he was targeted 3 times and in those 3 targets he didn't give up a foot of space and had what should have been a pick. He looked the part of a high level DB. He has to get in order whatever he has going on right now to earn back the trust of the coaching staff. It's pretty clear the reason he wasn't starting wasn't because of talent or ability.
I was watching Brooks. He jammed his receiver coming five yards off the line and stuck with him like gum. It was pretty impressive. His play and form was as good as any cornerback all night. Of course he didn’t start over 20 games for the number four in the nation the university of Texas for nothing.

and yet he didn’t play for us until the second half

did he get into Bret’s doghouse for the first half ? it was he beat out in fall camp as some suggest ?

I think it was the former
