I am trying to convince myself the entire season is not defined by that Kansas game.

You can lose to Kansas, but then you need to find four more wins amongst the Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern, @Nebraska, Michigan State, & @Rutgers games. It's not crazy to think Illinois could be 2-6 going into November with four winnable games to finish the season. The goal will be 4-4 (wins against EIU, Kansas, CMU, and Purdue) going into the final stretch.

Well let’s see how I do:

1. Start 3-0
2. Win at Nebraska or PedU - 4-1
3. Sweep Purdue and scUM - 6-1
4. Lose at Oregon - 6-2
5. Go 2-2 down the stretch and finish 8-4

That’s how I see it folks unless we do even better.

Well let’s see how I do:
1. Start 3-0
Kansas at home - toss up
2. Win at Nebraska or PedU - 4-1
Win at Penn State?
3. Sweep Purdue and scUM - 6-1
Beat Michigan
4. Lose at Oregon - 6-2
5. Go 2-2 down the stretch and finish 8-4
NW MSU MN Rutgers
That’s how I see it folks unless we do even better.
I am not confident about winning vs Kansas, @Penn State @ Nebraska or vs Michigan

to go 8-4 I think we have to win 4 of 5 vs. NW MSU MN Rutgers Purdue

CMU being homecoming is an awful decision. Purdue or Michigan were such obvious choices.

We've got to start 3-1, otherwise you're realistically staring 2-6 in the face if you can't beat Purdue at home. If we are 4-4 going into our final four games, we have a great shot at a bowl. Starting 3-5 and you're probably on the outside looking in.

*We'll beat EIU
*Very low possibility of beating Kansas unless we are one of the biggest surprises in all of college football this year. Possible, but not likely
*Will beat Cent Mich
*See our very well-documented history of losing our first road game. Again, it's possible but not likely (though slightly more likely than KS). Loss at Nebby
*No chance to beat Penn St
*Despite our piss-poor record against Purdue over the last 10 years, we win this one
*Surprised at the number of people who think we can beat Fichigan. We'll give them a good game but lose
* Oregon will be the worst loss of the year

That puts us 3-5 going into MN. I now believe we will win the three remaining home games (MN, MSU and NW) and go to a bowl. I'd be very happy with that right now. Anything more is just icing on the cake.
