Here we go with the way to early pill from next year. I'm good with a preseason #11 the day after championship game.

ESPN had us as #20 with Kofi but it's tough to really say how good we will be next year until the roster is settled.
Yeah there’s so much volatility within almost every roster that it’s useless to take any of this to heart—outside maybe the top 10.

Fun to speculate, and I’d wager if all the dominos that are allegedly supposed to fall for us do, we’re preseason top 15, but they are some massive ones.

Either way it’s nice to even be on these kinds of lists at this point in the year. Just a pipe dream to be in the top 25 4 years ago.

With Kofi, and a top 10 recruiting class with Skyy, Ty, Epps and Harris plus CoHawk, RJ and Goode back - we're a top 10 team next year. Lots of new roles, so they will have to gel - but with the most dominant big man in the country, lots of height, athleticism and enough shooting we will really be a matchup nightmare

It would also likely be that key bridge to sustained success - it would be our third straight year having a top 10 type team and given the amount of young talent on the team next year, with consistent recruiting we can finally get into the "reload" cycle that we've all been looking for

Can probably say that about every team. The too early Top 25's are much less meaningful in the transfer portal era.
Agreed. Though I think we lose more than most and have the potential for a top 10 or better class that relies on several key transfers to backfill, so I do think we are even more uncertain than most teams.

I just noticed our avatars are very similar. That was purely coincidental. :)

Even before COVID, you could get by in most majors on the lecture recordings. I don't think I went to a single class my senior year because every lecture was recorded.
So it's kinda like going to school online and living on campus?

Personally I don’t think we should be top10 with just Kofi+Skyy. Probably lower teens. That would be a very young, inexperienced team. Add TSJ and that puts us around 10.

I love the upside of this team next year, but I think they have to prove it.

May take some time with two freshman PGs in Skyy and Epps. Like them both but tough position with inexperience. Like the wing possibilities and love the rotation of Kofi, Hawk, and Dain in the frontcourt. Just like to see Hawk and Kofi shoot from 10-15’. Saw Kofi do it successfully a few times last year but would really help to open up the lane.

New age - every team starts over. If Kofi returns we will be favorite to win B10. If he doesn't the B10 will be wide open.

Headed to NBA

Iowa loses Murray, Bohannon SR
Purdue loses Jaden Ivey and Trevion Williams
Wisconsin loses Johnny Davis , Brad Davis SR
Rutgers loses Ron Harper, Geo Baker SR
Illinois Plummer SR, Frazier SR Williams SR Grandison SR, Kofi ?

247 way too early

Another list has us in the top 25, at #17. Not sure if that's being generous, but it's nice to see Illinois consistently getting noticed in these.
These way too early rankings have even become more pointless than before with the transfer turnover. Still, agree that it's nice to see our names on the list and faith from national media members that Underwood and Co. will put together a winner.

Edit: see my blatantly obvious insight was already said earlier...my b

I am not as knowledgeable about this game as many on this board. So I hope someone could give an educated opinion about whether Chet Holmgren, the 7’, 194 lb. Gonzaga player, would have been successful if he played in the Big 10?

MTMinded answered your question accurately. Plus -- the Big10 isn't all that special, as evidenced by our success in the tourney over the past 22 years.

Zero championships since MSU in 2000. Quite an amazing drought.
