I mean lets be honest, its not that crazy is it? He said this 3 years ago when he was a freshman. If he plays 5 years... 35 games per year x 5 is 175 career games... He doesn't even have to average 9 points per game to get to 1500. Its not like he was saying Luke was the next Wilt Chamberlain.

Just kidding. We all know Brad's hyperbole is simply ELITE.

Brad likes to pick big numbers to make his point. A few years ago he "would be shocked if Luke Goode isn't a 1500 point scorer". So 20-25 threes, sure why not.
While seeing us drain 25 threes in a game would give us all dominant eruptions and calls that we're going to be national champions, I'm not sure I feel all that confident hearing this right before the season starts. As if Brad thinks we're going to be making 20-25 threes in a game at some point this year, exactly how many threes a game does he see us shooting? 40? And that's still shooting a scalding hot 50%-63% from three on volume.

Last year we played pretty fast, 66th fastest tempo in the nation and averaged 70 possessions per game. 38.5% of our field goal attempts were from 3. If we're shooting a 3 40 times a game, we're talking anywhere from about 47-63% ( considering offensive rebounding) of our field goal attempts from three. That's just an absurd number.

So yes, hoping this is hyperbolic Brad saying this team has great 3pt shooters rather than realistic Brad.

To be fair, he said in a game. If team shooting is as good as suggested, there could be a game with a lot of possessions where we shoot well. I can see a game like the following from 3:

Ben H gets on a little heater, 5-8 from 3.
DGL with some instant offense, 2-3 from deep.
Carey Booth goes 1-3 in some spot minutes.
Kylan goes 3-5.
Will Riley 3-7.
Tomi goes 2-5.
KJ 3-7.
Then Tre White or maybe Jake Davis sighting, one of them hits a 3.

That is a high volume with at least 39 threes taken, possibly 40+ as you state. But thats 20 made threes. I see it as a little bit hyperbole, but also at least a decent probability it could happen this season.

Looking at the schedule I see 8-3 when Christmas hits. I think they get pounded by Alabama and lose to Tennessee and Arkansas.

I'm not sure I understand the "Financial Repayment" part of the decision for allowing Tomi eligibility. If someone can let me better understand what it means.

We've moved from divvying up player's minutes to divvying up player's share of three pointers shot and added in an attempt to "do the math" on if it's possible. Let's start the season already.

Pretty sure I heard him cough *quintuple overtime*. Seems reasonable.

Oh, and who was the poster that was skewering Underwood over Tomi's eligibility?

I think it's similar to when Kofi was suspended after selling some of his gear on The Players Trunk a month before NIL became a thing and before he decided to return to college. Part of his punishment was donating any money he made off of those sales to a charity of his choice. So if the NCAA determined that Tomi made any money that would impact his eligibility, they are asking him to donate that same amount to charity so we can all pretend like it didn't happen.

That's just my guess.

And.....Missou is when we break the SEC sweep...at least we have that to look fwd to.

Not excited about alabama "pounding" ...I'll be one of a few orange and blue in sea Of crimson tide in the stands that night.

Honest question . . . I have no idea how NIL works physically. I love my Illini basketball and I'm willing to contribute to make it better. Who distributes the money? Who do I give to?

The University? Someone else? The player directly?
Help !

NIL money comes from sponsors and brands who choose to promote products or services through student-athletes.

State laws are primarily focused on preventing NIL deals from being used as recruitment tools. Schools can't pay students directly, but some states have murky laws surrounding just how involved a school's booster club can get.
