Illini Basketball 2024-2025

The Duke matchup at MSG is one of the cooler matchups we have had on the schedule in many years, but damn ... it's pretty depressing what it would cost to turn that one into an Illini-themed long weekend in the Big Apple:

- $400 for tickets (guessing $200 each for a decent ticket for you and the significant other?)
- $500+ for two plane tickets to fly in that Thursday and fly home that Sunday (the Fighters do not take 6:00 am flights if we can help it, lol...)
- $645 for three nights at a decent Hyatt in the Chelsea neighborhood so we could walk to MSG (average of $182 per night plus fees)
- $150 if we want to go out to ANY sort of dinner with a nice atmosphere and get a bottle of wine
- $200 or so combined in more casual meals from Thursday to Saturday?
- $75 in beer at MSG (3 for Fighter, 2 for Mrs. Fighter)

$2,000 weekend, and I probably undershot it. I guess Little Fighter doesn't need that new fancy stroller!
My 10yo loves watching Illini games with me, but since we live in the Charlotte area I haven't had a chance to take him to a game yet. I think his Christmas present this year is going to be a boys trip to NYC to see them play Duke. He's gonna lose his mind.

Great Christmas present! Suggestion is to record him on your phone and show the board!

Come on Fighter be a responsible parent and skip the NY trip and purchase the 3 game mini familly plan. You’ll have plenty of cash leftover to get little Fighter that souped up stroller. Look the networks, universities and now players can’t be worrying about what it cost fans in both time and money to support them. /s
Problem solved.

Great idea. My wife and I (in Winston-Salem area) took our 8 yo son to NYC last year for the Florida Atlantic game. Quick flights if you go that route. Shannon and Domask went nuts, and he loved every second. It wore him out so bad that he literally fell asleep halfway through the UNC v UConn game right after...and UCONN fans were loud!

Wow - Sorry I can't put Rez and Hansberry in the same category/talent/skill
I agree, Rez is more talented, but they are also completely different players. Hansberry is very fundamentally sound and skilled - like a (really) poor man's Tim Duncan. But he's not in the same universe as Rez as far as run-jump athleticism. Rez is an athletic, physical beast - Shawn Kemp Lite.

Was thinking of attending with the wife as well, but my cost out was coming in around $3k. Sounds like a great experience, but for the price I'd rather save that for the Final Four run!
