Could it be putting in the work behind the scenes and helping young men improve their character, maturity, skills, and game when at the same time getting paid less than them the day they walk in the door? He probably just wants 'due' compensation.

It's wanting a raise and extension after an elite 8 run. He wanted one whether OA was brought here or not.
From 30m of searching, 550k as an assistant is already in the absolute elite tier. When you are making top tier money, bringing in top tier results is expected. Achieving expectations is not a reason to demand a raise. An extension, maybe.

What I found: Most power 5 assistants make 350-500k, with the distribution heavily weighted to the lower end. I found very, very few assistants earning 600k+. OA was the absolute top assistant salary I found. The next highest were the top Connecticut assistants at 750k and 800k (all inclusive - salary, bonuses, retention bonus). CT is winning national championships. (I'm sure my search probably missed some things. Finding these numbers wasn't easy.)

Does anyone know who all on the Illinois men’s basketball team is receiving NIL money? I didn’t know how that worked as far as who is eligible to get paid like I’m sure that Kylan Boswell is getting paid and the two guys from overseas and Will Riley but who else on the team would be getting paid will Morez Johnson get NIL money?

He's already left, he hasn't been at any fundraising events or functions, wasn't at the golf outing, not been at Ubben. It's much more likely TA won't coach this year than go to Memphis or somewhere else.
It got that bad? Yikes. Must not have been the best work environment for the last couple months then, at least.

Too bad, but confident Brad will make a good replacement hire. A defensive specialist would be welcomed.

0440 - who would you pick if it’s up to you?

Seems like there is more going on behind the scenes than just money in this situation. Any of you insiders care to elaborate?
Not an insider, but have friends in football and in the basketball programs, and the rumors I’ve heard have been all over the place.

Some stating this could go as far back to the Chester stuff, where Tim asked for a raise once Chet left. Illinois was focused on replacing him, brought in OA and paid him handsomely, yet he wasn’t here for the elite 8 run.

TA supposedly asked again quietly, was denied, and that’s when it turned cold.

Apparently we weren’t planning on paying out any raises to other assistants until AFTER this season and apparently Geoff is 1st line.

TA is rumored to have taken that pretty personally, given his much more respected recruiting prowess outside of Illinois circles…

Brad apparently then pulled TA off all high priority Chicago land area prospects until this was sorted out, and that’s when TA and began leveraging the Memphis offer, which now has this ship in pretty murky waters if you ask me..

This is all just hearsay atp, but I thought I’d share.

I will say….we started the OA process before Chester left if that tells you anything about that situation.
