I could attend this. I’m 200 miles away and my son does not have a hockey game scheduled that weekend. Should I? Hit like for yes, don’t hit like for no.

For context, the last time I attended a game in Happy Valley, we lost when Derek Dimke’s field goal attempt hit the upright as time expired and it was the last game that Joe Paterno ever coached.

I think you and your son need a long, restful weekend. Stay home and enjoy the game on TV. Also, take your wife out to dinner. She's probably overdue.

AP3k, I hit like, but after reading BWBW's post I think that might be a better play. I know those tickets won't be cheap. I also know the time it takes to keep the kid(s) active in their sport(s) of choice. It will be the only game on I believe, and Fox should put on a nice production for it. Relax and enjoy it on a big screen TV. I-L-L

And students chucked snowballs at the OL right before the snap

I had the opportunity to go to a Penn State game but didn’t. It was the game Illinois took PSU to nine overtimes. So do what you think best.

I was at that game on Halloween weekend : (

We were in Happy Valley the day before the game and have never been greeted and openly welcomed by home team fans than theirs. If you remember, it snowed 4" Friday night.

I've never had a worse experience in a B1G stadium as that game. Snowballs rained into our Illinois visitor section, injuring some. Snowballs were beinvg thrown on the field at the Illinois team. Referees announced twice that any objects thrown onto the field would result in a penalty against the home team. Yet, on Dimke's end of game attempt to tie, snowballs rained onto the field, almost hitting one referee. Field goal missed. No flags.

Go.

My brother (lives in Syracuse) and I attended the Sept. 2008 Saturday night (ESPN) Illini-PSU game in Happy Valley (the season after the Rose Bowl.) Had a great time. I drove up from DC and met him in Harrisburg the night before. Arrived in HV around noon Sat., watched ball in the bars in the afternoon in campus town, wandered around campus, saw the old Rec Hall and the soul-crushing ugliness of Bryce-Jordan Arena, snagged two tiks in the secondary market on the 50 yard line a dozen or so rows from the top of the stadium.

Pretty town and setting, fantastic atmosphere, and a very good game. The Illini lost ultimately (38-24) but we had a splendid time. One of the two best stadium experiences I've had in the BT, and the night game aspect made it particularly memorable. A couple rude fans as we left near the end of the game but, hey, out of 107k that's not too bad.

You won't regret it, especially because this time we'll win.

Stay very near State College if you can. That drive back to Harrisburg over Appalachian Ridge after Appalachian Ridge at 11:30 p.m. was brutal. That's the only thing I'd do differently.
