Flush earlier in this game notwithstanding, he's been a little more gentle around the rim lately. I'm not just talking about today's game. Reminds me of the pre-Minnesota Mav of last season.

He has always been soft and especially so on the boards and defensively. What he has continued to get better at is playing defense, and that's it. We know what we are getting with him and in no way has he regressed.

he dunked it 3 times last game and had a double double...has scored dbl digits 9/10 games.

Groce is just weird with subbing and personnel decisions.

Good enough to start and that's it? Don't get it.

Maybe you missed it. Coach is still figuring out subing. Part of the process ................. you know, late in the season. But that is what good coaches do.

When we ran and played with energy, we looked good. When we went to our usual slow, lethargic half court offense we looked bad.

Anyone want to guess what we do in the second half?

That's fair. I'm probably inflating the frequency of these instances where he looks more hesitant because it looks so incongruous coming from a big guy like Mav.

He looked a bit hesitant to me, or maybe just tired. I'm kind of wondering if his knees are starting to show some mileage.

If I was 6'10 my first urge around the rim would be to stuff it.

Each time.
Every time.
Every single time.

Even at that height, you still need to get a little air under those anvils he uses as feet for the stuff.

Think it's more what NW does. I doubt they shoot that poorly for a long stretch in the second half.

Illinois LED by two Freshmen!!!

What a surprise.

BUT, that should be indicator whom NOT to bench.

Hopefully.

Good news is that it is tied at half with Hill not scoring. Bad news is Northwestern won't play that bad in the second half. We have to step it up. It would help if Hill can start scoring.

Go through one of our big droughts where we can't hit a shot and the other team gets a series of open layups and dunks.

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think that this roster would evolve to be freshman-led. This was supposed to be the Abrams, Thorne, and Hill Show.

Our offense and defense are very commonly linked. If offense is good the defensive energy is good. Once we start missing shots our defense slacks.

Exactly. If you told me before the season that the freshmen would contribute this much I would have thought we had a deep and talented team. I never thought the seniors would be lagging the freshmen.
