They really made a mess of this list. LSU should be #1, Bama is too high. People are saying that Ohio State is too high, and that's pretty interesting if they kind of entered Alabama territory of playing very few games at home with an intimidating atmosphere because they are so used to winning big. Wisconsin is way too high, and I'll say it, it's an overrated gameday experience. I found Iowa to be a more interesting environment than Wisconsin. Oklahoma is too high. Florida State may or may not be too high, but is carried by their band. Oregon is too low, Michigan is too low. Tennessee is too low. South Carolina is too high. Michigan State shouldn't be on the list and Mississippi State is just a stupid inclusion.

I don't know about "toughest to play in" but Penn State's Beaver Stadium was the best stadium experience I've seen. Despite being 3 rows from the surface of the sun we had a great line of sight.

And if you extend it to the top 25, we have won at three stadiums (adding on MSU) in the past five years! FTR, the three Big Ten stadiums in the top 10 are (4) Ohio State, (6) Penn State and (7) Wisconsin. These are those schools' home losses in the past three seasons:

As someone who’s seen a game there and had a great time, it’s a cool enough stadium/experience, but it’s really not very loud, especially given its good reputation … and I’ve heard this stated from multiple Badgers fans. I think it suffers from a setup similar to the Big House where it forever reason doesn’t trap enough noise.
Honestly, in the rare instances Memorial Stadium has a full and energetic crowd (e.g., Michigan home game in 2007), it’s louder.

Also, RE: the themed games ... I wonder if they will even bother with us having an "Orange Out" or if that will just be the default crowd. It always kind of bugged me when video games that prided themselves on being ultra-realistic would make the crowd made up of one or two colors. One just has to look around them at an "Orange Out" game in Champaign to see a very decent chunk of fans will just simply wear whatever they want, so a truly realistic crowd at all stadiums will always have a smattering of white, gray and other random T-shirt colors.
If they really wanted to get our crowd right, it would be 90% orange in September, 70% orange in October and 50/50 between navy and orange in November and after.

It also depends on who our opponent is. If it's against Wisconsin, Nebraska or Ohio State they would need to add in quite a bit of red.

I always find it surprising how many Huskers fans there are in Champaign. I mean, I know they travel with the best of them ... but C-U isn't even kind of the easiest campus for them to get to.

There really aren't too many of them here full time. What happens though on gameday against Nebraska is that the RV lot is absolutely packed to the brim. They travel like the caravan scene from Independence Day
Heard from one of our players the other day that every guy on scholarship are "in the game," will get a free copy of the game, and each were given $600 to buy a console so that they can play it. Which I think is pretty neat, especially for those guys like linemen/special teams players who are deep down the depth chart.
Completely agree. Been to Camp Randall twice to see games and the only time I've seen it get remotely crazy is during Jump Around. PSU and Iowa are way way wilder in my opinion, with PSU especially in a different stratosphere. And as someone who was on campus and had season tickets during our 2001 Sugar Bowl year, we could indeed get pretty noisy. Just have to have seasons like that one just a biiiiiiiit more frequently, haha.

Okay so I’m too excited for this game but I think they are going to be very detailed in getting the information from Illinois on what our crowd is supposed to look like at full capacity, remember we’re supposed to do a all orange out game and a striped theme game as well so I can see us definitely having what it would be like to actually have everyone on the same page which would look really amazing!
Also you can see in this screen shot we have an A in academics for recruiting which is accurate, you can’t just get any recruit anymore the players will only be interested in Illinois if they are recruits that care about academics and so on… but a C+ in championship contender
