fwiw heard that AM didn't even tell the team he was transferring and that BU reached out but wasn't given a chance to convince him to stay. also possibly a Mark Smith-esque parental situation. regardless sad to see him go
If true, that's too bad.fwiw heard that AM didn't even tell the team he was transferring and that BU reached out but wasn't given a chance to convince him to stay. also possibly a Mark Smith-esque parental situation. regardless sad to see him go
Maybe you can’t, but I guess AM could. And I agree (and said in my post) that Curbelo will get better, but at least 1 or 2 times a game I’d yell at TV for Curbelo to hit open guy on wing instead of driving in too deep.yes, he does. Curbelo is a facilitator. period. And will only get better. I can’t imagine not wanting to play with a point guard of his skill set.
Not surprising considering just a week ago Curbelo was commenting on AM’s Instagram “we coming back kid, let’s work.”fwiw heard that AM didn't even tell the team he was transferring and that BU reached out but wasn't given a chance to convince him to stay. also possibly a Mark Smith-esque parental situation. regardless sad to see him go
It's going to be hard to get in state talent when we lost to in state schools in the tournament.This. 100%. Imo, we need the in-state talent to stick around if we ever want to be a consistent force. I thought having Ayo and then AM coming here would do big things for our future prospects. Ugh.
Incredibly disrespectful, both to the team and the coaches. Underwood was nothing but complimentary of AM. Good riddance if that is the kind of character (or lack thereof) that he shows after literally living with this Illini family for a year of quarantine.fwiw heard that AM didn't even tell the team he was transferring and that BU reached out but wasn't given a chance to convince him to stay. also possibly a Mark Smith-esque parental situation. regardless sad to see him go
Yep. A shame that so many parents are forcing kids to make decisions that they don’t necessarily agree with.3 letters....MOM
Well back to the basement I guess.
I mean what else could Illinois give him? A starting spot at a Big 10 team and a ranking all season as a freshman? Given his performance relative to how high his standards apparently are I don't know how this looks good. I think we have a right to be frustrated. My only thought is that perhaps from his perspective, he doesn't want to be recruited over in the transfer portal. Maybe he's just doing this in order to protect himself in case he doesn't like the playing time he sees after a full team is formed. Maybe some of the insiders can speak on this?
Not enjoying all the AM hate on the boards right now. He accepted his role on the team and played hard. I don't like him transferring either, but don't think he deserves what some people are saying about him after a great season.
So, Burnette's mom isn't the mom to be named later? Really confused.3 letters....MOM
Why do I get the feeling you're saying it could get both worse and better at the same time?Wait to see what happens in a couple of weeks.
lolWell back to the basement I guess.
I have a hard time seeing him transfer to a P6 school now. He'd almost have to take a downgrade I'd think.
Hasn't he been hanging out down in South Beach this past week?I could see AM going to somewhere like Miami. He'd be "the guy" and still get national spotlight. Don't know the kid, but it's obvious he has an image he wants to keep up. Wish him nothing but the best. Next man up.
I didn’t disagree with anything you saidMaybe you can’t, but I guess AM could. And I agree (and said in my post) that Curbelo will get better, but at least 1 or 2 times a game I’d yell at TV for Curbelo to hit open guy on wing instead of driving in too deep.
