2023-24 St. Louis Blues

How in the hell can a team go 0 for 7 on the power play. That is just ridiculous

Rough watching it in person. I look for the crowd to erupt next time we score one at home. Couple of buddies and I have a pool going on who scores the next one and we keep adding into it.lol Beer vendor knows me by name.

1 for 35 on the season

Wins in 3 straight and 5 of their last 6 for the Blues after tonight's shutout win over the Bolts.

Now they head out on a west coast trip between now and Thanksgiving where they'll go to San Jose, L.A., Anaheim, and Arizona.

While I'd obviously like to get to a game at Enterprise Center since I've never had the chance to go to an NHL game, I wouldn't mind going to a game in Columbus just for the experience of hearing the cannon.

I was ticked off about the setup of the team last year and this season. Looks like Blues put Vrana on waivers and Krug was absent from practice. Ugh.....

Just a matter of time until he is gone for pretty much nothing. I know the Blues have been trying to compete but just another year of trying to stay competitive yet not rebuild is ticking a bunch of people off.

Not saying anything illegal has happened but Blues were going to put him on waivers....probably an injury plagued team reached out and seeing if anything comes of it. If not.....than it is just delayed. Comes down to retaining salary likely

Berube fired after tonight's loss to the Red Wings.

Sucks to see it happen but sadly not surprising. Especially given how things went last season and for much of this season. Tonight's loss at home to Detroit was what finally did him in. Berube did have a 3-year contract that ran through the end of next season. He'll always have a place in the team's history when he was a midseason hire back in 2018 to take over for Mike Yeo and led them to the Stanley Cup.

Former NHL player Drew Bannister, who has been their AHL head coach with the Springfield Thunderbirds for the past 3 seasons and led the team to the Calder Cup final in 2022, has been named the interim head coach in Berube's place.

Sad to see but someone has to be the fall guy. I would rather have Berube around but the way the roster is constructed it was just a matter of time.

Hoping a few guys will waive trade clauses and shake up the roster a bit. We are stuck in neutral trying to go up a cliff.

Could see it coming,no intensity, lack of physicality, message just not getting across.Montgomery was a huge loss for Blues, special teams were his cup of tea.His imput was a big part of it,just look at what Boston has fared since his hiring.Steve Ott on PP,not good.

Was he in charge of the PP during the cup run? I know he was on stafff

Could of been a combination,Montgomery led PK,might have assisted PP with Ott.Montgomery seemed to be Berube's voice to the players while also being main x-o's man.

from this outsider's POV, Armstrong's shuffling the deck chairs

Just off a few comments I have seen.....

Montgomery is a fine coach and enjoyed him while he was on the Blues staff. He had a drinking problem and that is why he was fired from the Stars. He joined the Blues staff for the 2020-21 season, we won the Cup during the 2018-19 season. Montgomery is a quality coach and deserves to be a head coach. Blues did not fall apart with his departure. We win in 2019 and the team slowly got dismantled. Armstrong made some very questionable moves and mismanaged the payroll.

Writing was on the wall....fired few assistants from last season and traded away some of our quality players. I like Berube and he has a distinct message that was not getting across to the younger guys on this roster. Talent level is low, too much money invested in average players and when guys don't give 100% than it shows. I understand why Berube got fired but I don't enjoy it.

Yeah I'm basically on the idea that Armstrong was looking for a scapegoat. If the team keeps going on the trajectory they are now, I wouldn't be surprised if Armstrong's seat starts to get pretty warm.
Quotes from Armstrong since the firing

"If I get fired in the next hour or I get hit by a bus, I don't feel today I left this roster any better than I found (when I got here in 2008)," said Armstrong. "You come in to a organization to make it better and you want to leave it in a better spot."

"I feel personally responsible for the situation that we're in this and I also hope that the people that I just talked to personally feel responsible too. If they don't, that's their decision."

Local fans are ticked off. I can live with getting value back for Tarasenko and O'Reilly(right moves) last season. Problem is you are stuck with a lot of mediocre talent and especially those D contracts where majority have no trade clauses. Armstrong was trying to stay competitive and should have traded more pieces off in the offseason. I don't enjoy losing but if they need to move pieces to get more effort out of guys than all for it.
