Another name that will not make the list.
If you're going to express that level of certainty and knowingness, you'd better just give us the list.
After retracting your earlier statement that there won't be a change at all, of course.
Another name that will not make the list.
Agreed. Not the one. He's a mediocre coach. Also, TV needs him.

I can tell you that Lavin, Holtmann, Muller and Jankovich will not be the next Illini coach. Let's see how I do.
Whitman is in Naples, FL for a few days.
I'm not trying to trick you here. I assume your list of candidates is the same as everyone else's here. Out with it.
Just a decoy for meeting with Silas.
Who is Florida Gulf Coast's HC now?
FLIGHT TRACKER HERE WE COME
Weak, lazy and lame :hand:
I think JW likes Groce and will not risk the 2017 class (especially Tilmon). He will justify NIT as improvement. That is my guess.
Is this still your guess?
the answer is yes. IF Groce makes the NIT, I still have some serious doubts we will make a change.
Don't backtrack on me now, you said that I made a statement that there won't be a change. I never made any statement like that. As far as what I said with respect to the NIT, you asked and responded a few days ago again:

As far as whether, I still believe the posts above, the answer is yes. IF Groce makes the NIT, I still have some serious doubts we will make a change.

I really still think we'll get there, so I guess we shall see. Gun to my head, I still think we'll end up at like 8-10 in conference.
Groce will be fired if they don't make the NCAA Tournament. I promise.
Not seeing 6 wins out of the remaining 11 myself. I wonder if we'd accept a bid to the NIT if we're offered?
I wonder if we'd accept a bid to the NIT if we're offered?
We will, Illinois will not turn down an NIT bid, even if we fire Groce before even playing in the NIT. Turning down an NIT bid is an insult and JW and the administration will not do that.
I don't know how things work in situations like that, but wouldn't the players have a say in it too, not just the AD?
We're just not going to agree on this.
Let's both hope I get proven correct by our next coach, shall we?
I do not believe that they will put it on a vote. The NIT is a tournament with a lot of tradition and is still a great part of NCAA basketball. It would be insulting to the committee and the institution to turn down such bid. People may think that NIT is below us, but we will not snob them.
I'm not saying it's below us. I'm just saying that if JG is fired and team is invited to play in it, the players may want just have the season end. I can imagine it'd be a bit demoralizing to play in a tournament after your coach got axed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think an AD would ask the players in a situation like that before just agreeing to participate.
