A bit surprised we didn't at least get some votes. Win next next game and maybe we will.

We don't deserve any votes. Most of the respected computer rating services never had us near the top 25 all year, and I think the polls will follow suit now after Oregon demolished us and Minnesota thumped us at home. I don't think we'll be near the top 25 the rest of the season.

We don't deserve votes now, but this is not accurate at all. We were not thumped at home. Any one score game is not being thumped.

If Illinois gets to 9-3, and that is a big if, the Illini will likely be getting major votes or ranked in the back end of the top 25. Illinois still got 3 votes in the coaches polls even after 2 straight losses.

At this point among the top 25, IL would probably have a puncher's chance against Kansas State, Pittsburgh, and Vanderbilt. Maybe Missouri.

Sympathy votes?

In all seriousness, this team now has a load of injuries at key positions and was already limited depth-wise, I can see why no one voted for us.

Like you said, win and the votes should come. But I think we’d need to do it convincingly as well.
