The National Football League is widely-considered “Sports Entertainment” and not some kind of repository of pure athletic competition.
Even some NFL players have been quoted about this. Former Buccaneers player Dwight Smith has said that NFL games are “more entertainment than actual competition”. He has stated: “I don’t believe the game is really decided on the field.”
And while most people around the League will always, ‘Protect The Shield!’ at all costs (the big river of MONEY...) Smith is not the only player to make such statements.
I could see the outcome of this year’s game a mile away. The clues were all there for weeks.
Look, anyone who likes this kind of thing is fine. We all make our choices. But we need to have our eyes open, too.
Does anyone honestly think that KC was ever going to lose this game? Not a chance. They may in fact be the better team anyway. But regardless, they were NOT going to be losers. Top much riding on it for too many people.
He was down, holding his arm/elbow after one play. Saw it again during a replay. But there was no injury timeout, I believe. Was thinking, oh wow it was just reactionary and he is ok. Freak athletes. But just crazy high pain tolerance. He played great all game long too.
Yeah and he chose the team with the best QB that would be playing a team that barely won its 2 previous playoff games. Where were his posts back in October, November, December and early January that KC would win SB so as not to disappoint the Swifties? Guess it took that long for NFL to realize Taylor Swift was a big deal.On January 29th you had a 50/50 chance of being correct.
Not only that, but he seems to have avoided the big quote from Dwight Smith — “Vegas decides who will win the Super Bowl, whatever makes them the most money.”My reaction to you posting an article from a "website" like this:
As someone who had multiple conversations with Hank Stram and spent a weekend at his home once (I was once in book publishing and we did a book with him), I would have paid go money to witness the conversation between the two of you when you told him his Super Bowl win was scripted. The Butkus era was the later stages of when the NFL was just about football. It was all football until the late Sixties. But once the Super Bowl era started and especially after the Jets upset over Baltimore and the Chiefs first Super Bowl win in the Len Dawson era... that's when things began to get real interesting in the 'Back Room' with the League promoters. With each passing year, it has become more and more entertainment.
And there are still players today of course who aren't down with this. And not everyone cares to 'know'. But the salaries are through the roof and the top-down interest is not the same anyway with each and every game. The higher the profile game... the more 'interest from above'. For two losing teams in the regular season, they don't really care that much... unless They are starting to build up a narrative of some kind.
What about Tommy Cutlets? Tom Brady was drafted 6th round. Kurt Warner undrafted. Drew Brees 2nd round. Tony Romo undrafted. Jeff Garcia undrafted. Mister irrelevant Brock Purdy.
Giants need to draft wide receivers and offensive line.

Such sad, sad news. Rest in peace, Vontae.Vontae Davis was found dead today. I was hoping this was a poor April Fool's Day joke, but it looks like it's real.

The night we beat OSU in 2007, we were out at KAM's celebrating. The friend I was with knew him well since he was talking with one of her friends. Spent a bit of time with him that night and he seemed like a chill dude. He's gone way too soon.
Lovie brought some serious DB talent here.I spy an Illini.....
Nice bump for Tony Adams.
What an awesome quote at the end of this article:
