I agree. I'd rather just never see Purdue again. But. I still think there is an outside path to a 2 or 3 seed in Chicago which would require us playing and beating Purdue once more.

1. Wisconsin beats Purdue tomorrow
2. We beat Purdue in the BTT semis
3. Wisconsin doesn't make it to the BTT championship game.
4. We win the BTT championship

In that scenario, I could see us being awarded the best seed in the B1G and getting placed in the Chicago region..which would be advantageous.

To be clear though, I'd rather have a share of the Big Ten regular season title and just keep winning the games in front of us regardless of where we play or what seed we are.
Well I think this is what we are shooting for now. One question though, if Wisconsin makes it to the finals of the BTT and we beat them do you think we still get the Midwest? I think so as we would have beaten them twice. The tournament selection committee says conference championships mean nothing.

Most of the time I thought the Big Ten championship game is not considered in seeding since it happens right before they announce. I think if it was down to one team getting a 2 and one team getting a 3 and they could just swap them it might matter. Not a perfect example, but last year I think Ohio State was a 2 seed before they lost that game and stayed there. In that case I don't think they would have swapped them to #1 with illinois had they blown us out, and likewise had Illinois beaten Ohio State by 40 they still would have been a 2.

Each time I listen to CoHawk, I commit to another ticket to the CoHawk train. Love this kid!

Why were you laughing when you came back to the corner?

My opinion (which isn't worth much) is that if Wisconsin makes it to the championship, they would be seeded ahead of us win or lose.

Now if Wisconsin loses on Friday and we beat MSU, Purdue, and Iowa or OSU en route to a BTT championship, I think we would have a very solid argument for getting the best seed from the B1G.

Of course, first we must demolish the Nittany Lions.

Wisconsin's NET # of 25 is not going to help them, but our Net # of 13 should help us. OTOH, Wisconsin's current Q1 results of 8-3 should help them, but our Q1 results of 5-5 is average.

Penn State has a NET of 94. That makes this a very important game we must have to continue our march towards better than a 4 or 5 seed in the ncaa tourney ... it is a quad 3 loss if we lose our focus and don't come out to bury them.

Let me go on record as saying I don’t mind if we lose on Saturday of the big ten tournament.

I think your correct that the BTT title game really is tough to factor into the seeding with only 30 minutes to reveal the field. I do think there are occasions where the winner gets say 1 sees higher than the loser. This could be one of those? I think Illinois has to win out and get to the championship game to avoid the dreadful 4/5 line. The game that will haunt us is tOSU. Just no reason to lose that game. You could say UC or Maryland but their are obvious player availability issues that help to offset those loses.

First interview of his I’ve really listened to. He is so well spoken , even on the off the cuff spontaneous questions. I could see him being on t.v some day and being good at it. Hopefully not for another 15 yrs or so after making a lot of money playing.

There's no way our offense can look as good as it did last game. Should not be a nail-biter, either.

I have 2 "concerns", if you even want to call them that.

1)As Ohio State most recently found out, don't stick your nose up at an opponent. It's these teams late in the season, that have nothing to lose, play free and easy and before you know it....you're behind. This happens, regardless of sport. Teams start doing things that they haven't done all year long.

2)With Wisconsin winning, did that take some wind out of our sail....a nothing else to play for thought process enters the mind?

I think that Underwood is way too good of a coach to not have addressed this, ad nauseam, with his guys.

This should be a double digit Illinois win. I'm not going to jinx us, so I'm going to leave it at that.
