We need every edge we can get against nationally ranked KU. With home field, a tuneup game with teachable moments and solid performances, and overall upgraded depth and talent, I'm hopeful the Illini have a chance for an upset win against an opponent playing their first game of the season. If so, expectations for this team will include postseason play.

I will make my own decision, but just thought I'd throw this out there for discussion. In addition to a couple single game tickets for my wife and me, I pur chased the 3 game package for myself (Kansas, Michigan, and Minnesota). Next Saturday is now the 1st Birthday party for my twin grandkids ay noon in Chicagoland. Don't know how long the party will last, but it includes family members from out of town. I originally didn't care if I had to miss the Kansas game. I'm not feekling the same now. Here are the facts I'm considering:
1. It's a large backyard picnic like party including friends with their many babies/toddlers (60-70 indiiduals total),
2. One of my SiL's (uncle, not the father) will not attend due to a commitment to a business event that includes golf. He is the only person that knows my dilemma. My wife hasn't pieced it together, yet.
3. The majority of the attendees will be gone by the 2-3PM timeframe,
4. I can probably drive to Chambana in about 2:30-2:45,
5. I, personally, am doing almost all the "fixing" of things at their home in preparation for the party, and
6. These are grandkids number 6 and 7.

What's everybody think? How do I sell this?

Wouldn't be surprised to see some scheme adjustments. We will probably start off with our 5-1-5 alignment with man coverage on the back end but if they give us some problematic matchups we will probably adjust.

Tldr don't get too anxious if they move the ball on us a lot, especially early.

Last year their backs killed Barnes in the passing game. Play aggressive and hit Daniel’s. Our offense will score points just need to figure out a way to slow down Daniels. They have an inexperienced line so hopefully we dial up some blitzes
And it is worth nothing...they lost their OC. I mean...not saying they'll be this bad but we know what happened to this program after losing their OC...

Having Bailey available can make all the difference in the world for this defense since he has no problem playing in the box as a safety. Lots of versatility there.

I see this as a revenge game that we refuse to lose. First, we avenge last year's loss on the field. We seem to be as good this year as we thought we were last year. It is a winnable game. Second, we avenge what a certain Kansas prosecutor did to TSJ. I'm sure he has friends on the team who have this in mind.

JMHO. Winning this game would be a step in the direction of making this Centennial year special.

A fledgling insider with insider news report.............Way to go sister........................
LOL, @pruman91 Waiting for the Illiniwalk in Grange Grove, I started talking to the lady in front of me, Tyler’s mom, who was very, very nice. I asked her if Tyler would stop to chat to her on the way in. She responded with, “Depends on what kind of mood he’s in!” I offered to take photos if Tyler did stop, and then I’d text them to her. She took me up on my offer. As 0440 said, we’ve got to support our players (and their families).
