Gores reminds me of former Badger Mike Wilkenson, but he's more advanced at this stage than Wilkenson was. Slightly taller, great frame for a prep, better outside shot, better range, better athlete. With the kids we're bringing in now, he's probly destined to be a complementary player, but a darned good one. Nothing wrong with that.

side note: how great is it that we're no longer bound by invisible lines? (state boundary) how great is it that we're perceived as a big time (and rising) program?

Pioneers to thank for erasing historical boundaries:
Goode - Indiana (DGL to follow)
Pods - Wisconsin (Domask to follow)
Ty - Michigan (TBD)

Kruger recruited Illinois well. He was blessed with excellent down state talent - Sergio, Marcus, Frank, Brian during his tenure.
Self went everywhere - Deron TX, Charlie V NJ,
Weber focused on Illinois but struck out on Chicago stars like Derek Rose, Jon Scheyer Julian Wright, Sherron Collins
Groce chased outside Illinois but could not close on 4 and 5 star recruits
Brad is killing it globally. Days of focusing on Illini HS talent like Henson are over. Kids go to basketball academies and transfer everywhere.

times have changed. thank goodness Brad has adapted. Izzo and Painter are trying to fight the incoming tide. I see both retiring like Jay Wright, coach K, etc.

KJ is definitely a 5 star by any other name. Ivisic might be also.

So, you're saying that Gores reminds you of an All Big Ten player that had 1500 points, 800 boards, with the comment that he's(Gores) better at literally everything both physically and skillfully...and he'd only be a complimentary player? I love your enthusiasm, but that profile probably puts him as the top player on this year's team and a likely lottery pick. If he's coming off of our bench..... it'd also mean that Vegas would have the betting line being Illinois vs the field.

I'll take it.

KJ is going from a relatively unknown Euro guy to B1G 1st Team as a freshman? The hype is crazy on this kid. I'm super excited to see him in action.
I mean...exactly 1 month after committing, ESPN projected him as a first round pick so...

was he "relatively unknown" to you (and most of us)? Maybe.

Was he "relatively unknown" to NBA radars? No.
