Let's hope people stay on topic this time.
If weā€™re going to hope for something letā€™s hope for a sustained above .500 program. I think itā€™s a long shot for either ā€œhopeā€ to come true though.

12 of the 16 SEC schools and only 5 of the 18 Big Ten schools, for reference.
Even if the middling SEC teams like Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina are getting a top 100 recruit here and there, they still have no shot at competing. The SEC knows that and is the reason why they refuse to go to a 9 game schedule

Exactly. Their teams schedule 4 easy wins so it just takes 2 conf wins to be bowl eligible

It's one of their better decisions. As long as they can keep convincing university presidents to keep the free win instead of another $4-5 million on their checks, plus stay close enough to the B1G media deal, then they're golden.

This is another reason why this "P2" nonsense past-their-prime media companies want and dumb reporters view as an inevitability is stupid. There are quite a few schools full of people that will happily buy recruits, both average joes and multi-million dollar boosters. Heck only 2 of the old SWC schools are in the SEC (and none are in the B1G) and those schools were buying players when Ed O'Bannon was a baby if not much earlier.

BTW network execs, customers of college football products are much less willing to spend money if their favorite schools get put into the NCAA's version of AAA football.
