I drive past its Turfgrass Research Center just east of the stadium every time I take my daughter to school there or pick her up. ~ A decade ago it pioneered among college teams the use of "Turf Trays" in which grass and soil on a sand base sit above square plastic trays that facilitate drainage and underground air circulation for growth. The field comprises ~ 5000 of these trays. They installed it after a wrath-of-God downpour flooded the field and forced cancellation of a game.Penn St & Purdue are the two premier turf grass land grant schools - known nationwide for it . Hence both have grass fields

Still puzzled about the 19-point PSU-Illini spread. Apparently I'm inappropriately optimistic about my team.
