OK... That was fun! Damn good fun.

Savor the great game action and our favorable result. Good old meat-and-potatoes-style Big Ten game of ages ago. But make that a ‘Sweet’ Potato.

But take a step back too and just drink in the grander spectacle of it all – The Illini Footballers being the featured CBS Saturday afternoon game on a beautiful Prairie State October afternoon and knocking off a long-standing Illini pest before the Nation’s eyes.

The great classic uniforms (gotta use these some more). The Old-Big-Ten-Style kind of play with lots of running and grinding and gut battles in the trenches.

The Illini have come a long way from where the program was just a few seasons ago when none of this would have been happening. Once again, a big thanks to the insight and vision of the great Illini AD to bring in a perfect football coach for this program (and roundball coach!) to elevate the State flagship University up into National prominence where it always belongs.

Indiana looked terrific today. Nebraska looked dreadful. And the Illini looked... Solid. Not sexy, just solid.

Indiana is soaking up all the National love for what they’ve done with their program so far. But the Illini are climbing the ladder right along with them but under the radar.

Michigan didn’t look like ‘Michigan’. Oklahoma today sure didn’t look like Oklahoma. Gotta love the Disruptions going on in Major College Ball. And, Thank God For The Portal.

Harold Grange is smiling wide tonight. And he has a lot of company doing that in Illini Nation. And a ‘Red’ Glow hangs warmly over Prairie State skies tonight.

It’s 2024 and we’ve got the Michigan athletics department on a leash. Sir Grange would be proud.

And is beating UM to become bowl eligible the sweetest possible reality out of all the parallel universes?

D-Line came up CREEPIN. The whole defensive side of the ball deserves lap dances, really.

Altmyer with a basketful of heroic plays.

The emerging Illini athletics renaissance continues to blossom.

Why I feel like we’re about to see the most unimaginably miraculous, most joyous chain of football-basketball seasons of our lifetimes?

Well the Illini beat Michigan with an offense that a distant descendant of Red Grange's single wing offense, with a fake punt that would look out of place in Grange's day.

Stayed out of the game thread for this one (for everybody else's sanity).

On one hand, it wasn't the prettiest.

But on the other hand, how is a win against Michigan not a beautiful thing?

Soak it up for now. Shock the sporting world next week.

Also, so cool that CBS played Brian's calls there at the end.
