my dear Speed Racer brother , thanks for the trip down memory lane with King Crimson and others vids there.......brought me back in time to a freer thinking period of my life.........I capped off some heavy listening with the Allman Brothers and the live Whipping Post performance....................it's a shame that Duane Allman died so young as so many other great musicians......At least they left behind some serious licks and riffs for us to enjoy................

Yea I’d say losing your top two assistant coaches after an elite 8 run would count as some level of turmoil. Not to mention all the players we had transfer out and only two returnees.

It can definitely work out, but it’s a lot of change.
I love Brad and am glad we have him, but this seems to happen to him a lot. Remember we had our first #1 seed in the tourney under Brad and then lost all three assistant coaches.

Whipping Post is one the most intense and underrated songs in the history of kicka$$ music......

And should definitely be the game thread theme song.

Does anyone know who all on the Illinois men’s basketball team is receiving NIL money? I didn’t know how that worked as far as who is eligible to get paid like I’m sure that Kylan Boswell is getting paid and the two guys from overseas and Will Riley but who else on the team would be getting paid will Morez Johnson get NIL money?
I thought everyone on scholarship is getting paid

If you are TA why leave now? No bid time AC or HC openings will happen until March. Hang around, collect your $550k, add another NCAA tourney notch to your resume. Then depart in March. More to the story I'm sure but it just seems dumb to go now.

I made a sarcastic joke a few days ago re: "why doesn't TA just suck it up and go through the motions for the paycheck?"

Anyway, I feel the answer is that more than likely it would be very difficult to just stay on and do his job all season while not seeing eye-to-eye with Brad on critical issues/decisions/etcetera.

I don't see all that many critical issues/decisions to be made in-season (practice starts in 7 days). Especially since TA is seen at minimum equal parts recruiter/strategist and I'd lean more toward the former as opposed to the latter....

The buck stops with BU. If he doesn't produce, he will be shown the door. In fact, with the exception of this year, there have been people post on here that we should be looking for a new coach every offseason. By all accounts John Groce was a good man and was loyal to his assistants. It likely cost him his job. I am sure JW would have paid for an upgrade to staff for Groce if he had asked. Under the circumstances of being only as good as your last year, BU has to pursue the best possible options - with players and with staff. Continuity has value, but only so much. You kinda have to trust that BU is going to make the decisions he thinks will keep us fans the happiest and, consequently, keep his job and the very substantial paycheck that goes with it. From what I have seen, he does that in a class manner, even if it may seem somewhat brutal in its application to us outsiders.

I also think from Brad’s perspective, why would he want someone with one foot out the door that isn’t happy. You can’t let him recruit and be around the players once it’s clear he’s not fully on board here

Hence why I’m sure they announced his leave- he doesn’t have a new job yet but Brad doesn’t want him around- so it’s the status that saves face until he finds a new job

Been off a while and didn’t feel like going back 100 pages. Has there been any updates on Big T’s eligibility status?
Indy or 0440 (can't remember which) said there should be no concern, however there was another insider before that seemed to have a higher level of concern.

To give both sides of the argument as I see them- he spent a year longer than his brother playing real ball and the NCAA gave his brother a hard time, but on the other hand the NCAA has been rendered practically toothless when it comes to eligibility decisions regarding player pay.

In Brad's defense, they got massive raises going to Kentucky. There was no beating those offers at the time.

Antigua took less money to go to UK at the time … And he’s told me on multiple occasions that he didn’t ever really want to leave …

There were some other circumstances that led to his departure … Wife, daughter being at UK, etc.
