That quote was from, if I recall, Bielema's end of season press conference a week or so ago.

The idea of a team playing in two bowl games seems... odd... I mean, to be clear, Northern Illinois earned the right to play in a bowl, and Illinois did not. But still... not a fan.
These kids have not had an intense workout since around Thanksgiving. They have had schoolwork to catch up on and finals to prepare for and take. If BB wanted to play in a bowl that badly, there were at least three games he should have been playing to win rather than not to lose. Now he wants to get all intense with these kids health at stake. He should address the bowl situation as something he doesn't want to play because he might fail and lose, also. I am sure the team would love a bowl trip but they would have also loved to win those games. Physically, they can't be anywhere close to being ready.Love this from coach. Great attitude. If it happens it seems the smart thing to do is send them straight to Florida and do all the practicing there.
There were a couple specific examples he cited of things he had or is pushing for. One was regarding practicing up to the moment you find out you officially didn’t get a bowl bid. That was something not done before he had to get the ok to do. Another was about not holding the football banquet on the first Saturday in December when the conference championship is. His point being, we don’t schedule things on a date we should be expecting to play. Finally he is pushing the ncaa to allow non-bowl teams to practice the same amount as bowl teams.Who's saying "no"?
I disagree with literally all of this. These kids have not had an intense workout since around Thanksgiving. They have had schoolwork to catch up on and finals to prepare for and take. If you had ever played at this level you would understand. You are entitled to your opinion.I disagree with literally all of this.
Better cancel spring ball..../sI disagree with literally all of this.
well done sir.
Hope they get absolutely demolishedRutgers sucks. I can’t believe we lost to them AND got beat out on APR.
I’m 99% sure that would be a rules violation. They could have a plan in place, but not practice.Illinois should probably plan on getting together and practicing. Highly doubt Texas A&M will be the only team to opt out. Might end up getting a winnable matchup too!
Wooo! Get 'em Bret!!
