Title pretty much says it all. The library consortium my local library belongs to has an extensive DVD catalog that I started tapping into during the pandemic. Other than the occasional dirty DVD or minor skip, I have had no issues until recently.
Week or two ago I was starting season 4 (maybe it was season 5) of Billions and DVD wouldn’t play. Would get the Showtime logo appearing then the anti-piracy warning and that was it. Program wouldn’t start playing and couldn’t get menu to appear. I tried cleaning DVD (no help) and popping in one of the other 4 discs (same problem). Mind you that previous seasons had worked just fine with this cheap DVD player. Other DVDs were also working just fine. I held on to the DVDs and requested same season, ensuring I wouldn’t get same DVDs back from same library. Those new DVDs of Billions didn’t work either. Oh well, time to move on.
Last night I popped in disc 1 of City on a Hill, which coincidentally is also from Showtime and exact same issue. Other DVDs are working (both of movies and a TV series from BBC or Acorn). Anyone have any thoughts to issue/fix? Again, this is a cheap standalone DVD player not a computer. Thanks
