Chicago Bulls 2024-2025

For obvious reasons, I think Will should have played ball at Purdue instead of Vandy.... I mean, he is/was a prototypical Purdue type of center....

Has anyone looked at the preseason roster for the Bulls? It’s like a Time Machine for this board in terms of past Illini and almost Illini and should have been Illini

This roster is a total mess, and while Lonzo Ball will only be physically able to play on a very limited basis as things get going, to the extent he's able to soak up some minutes, it's very clear who the odd man out is in that photo, which is bad for Illini fans and bad for the Bulls to boot.

Zach Lavine is the worst and most untradeable contract in the league by ten country miles. It's a completely hopeless situation.

everything Reinsdorf owns is managed & operated like horse crap

You're right of course. But here's the thing. He owns the ball club on Chicago's South Side. The South Side is where the World Famous Chicago Stockyards was for many years. Thusly... 'Everything (he) owns is managed & operated like COW crap"... OR... since he owns a team called the Bulls... that would make this 'like BULL cra...'

Don't forget. The early Bulls first played at the International Amphitheater right by the Stock Yards.

Pieces of the puzzle that square this sad Chicago franchise(s) circle.

While this may well be true, I wouldn’t put waiving an undrafted FA on the list of proof of that.
of course not. Marcus is not made for the NBA.
overseas? maybe or as an assistant college coach for awhile. if he likes that, maybe climb that ladder . thats in his blood

my overall point still stands. Jerry is in the "ownership game" for one reason - he makes way way more in league "dividends" and appreciation of the value than he could in the stock market.

He could give a rats arse what local revenue he makes or how his teams do on the court/field. Thats for his kid(s) to figure out when hes gone

I get all that. I just find it a bit amusing how much people hate him. Has there ever been an owner who has presided over 7 championships for a city across two major sports that faces the same animosity? Not to mention 6 of those titles are the only championships one team has won and the other ended an 88 year drought for the other team.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of his. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’d guess at least 95% of the owners in major sports are in it for the money and highly value the bottom line, and few if any have 7 championships. Like I said, kind of amusing.

Reinsdorf is like the wife who was absolutely fantastic for 10 years, gave you wonderful kids, but now has a new lover, killed your mom but successfully framed you, and has all your money while you are learning why they call it "the pokey".

When you watch a ballgame you aren't excited about what your team did 25 years ago.

Reinsdorf is the Chauncey Gardener of pro sports owners

Great pitch. Needs a good title. I'm thinking Paul Giamatti as Reinsdorf, Matt Damon as "you", and Jamie Foxx and Meryl Streep as your legal team that's determined to prove your innocence. A Christmas Day release and then streaming rights to Apple in late January.

Pure serendipity huh? Yes, the Bulls got lucky that Jordan fell to them, but many great players never win a championship. And in fact, it took 6 years for Jordan to win one. It wasn’t like he came in and won a championship in year 1 or 2. They had to build around him. Krause made a very shrewd trade to move up 3 spots for Pippen. Think Bulls win 1 let alone 6 titles with Olden Polynice? And while Pippen and Jordan were the constants, it was really two different teams around them that win 6 titles.

Obviously Jordan deserves the lion’s share and then some of the credit, but there is plenty to go around. That Reinsdorf deserves none and Krause seemingly little is pretty silly. They signed Phil Jackson and eventually made him head coach. And it has been widely reported that Jordan wasn’t a fan of the move or the triangle offense initially. Bulls might have won a title or two with a different coach. Six titles? Don’t think so.

Krause gets a lot of credit (from me, anyway). Jackson too. Reinsdorf? nope

So Reinsdorf gets no credit when his hires work out but all the blame when they don’t? OK. Like I said originally, I find that a bit amusing. I can’t think of another owner whose teams have that many championships for one city and is hated like he is. I mean it’s not like he’s Dan Snyder or Donald Sterling.

Remove GOAT MJ titles and you get 1 title in 60 years for 2 teams. Yup that is impressive. Dan Snyder and Donald Sterling don't hold league title for worst team in history but Reinsdorf does. Reinsdorf should sell both teams and let somebody who cares and want to win be owner. Reinsdorf bought the white sox in 1981 and in 43 years has only made playoffs 7 times. By comparison St Louis Cardinals went to playoff 20 times in same 43 years.

Regarding the Sox and Bulls Owner Mr. Reinsdorf... say (uh, stay with me now) that he’s just the greatest guy in the World! So misunderstood. So underappreciated. So much that we are so lucky to have him in the City of Broad Shoulders...

Having gotten all that out of the way... consider this:

He bought the White Sox in 1981. They have ONE title in 43 years under his leadership.

He bought the Bulls in 1985. They have SIX titles in 39 years under his leadership (and one very lucky draft pick that would have changed anyone’s franchise history).

Combined, that is SEVEN titles in 82 YEARS of his franchise(s) ownership and leadership. That’s a batting average of .085... Well below the Mendoza Line of .200. In fact, WAY below it.

His record – such as it is – speaks for itself. Whether or not fans should appreciate him (or not) is personal choice, as is whether or not his ownership performance is seen as admirable... or pretty much an underachieving failure.

And if you ever run into Michael Jordan, ask him (and other Bulls and Sox players too) about their true feelings about The Owner. You'll get more fireworks right there than the Bulls or Sox are likely to generate in the next five seasons combined.

Reinsdorf the leader of sports teams is a boring old story, a guy who had 1995 ideas in 1985, and still has 1995 ideas in 2024.

But Reinsdorf the sports business owner is a titan, arguably the single most important and influential figure in the modern American sports industry, and he will leave a legacy of transforming major league sports teams from a mass civic institution to a parasite whose prime purpose is to steal money from its host city and its labor force.

The American sports ownership class represent about the most wicked and immoral group of people short of violent criminals we have in our society, they're all more or less the same in their poisonous ideology, but Reinsdorf added an unfortunate talent for leadership and influence within that group.

The Bulls, Blackhawks and White Sox have now disappeared from TV for the foreseeable future, which will be a financial disaster for those teams and just further burn the relationship with the fans. Just a useless, destructive equilibrium for all parties.
