2/12 Games

Last two years have been the same for me. I watch college ball as much as I can until about January and then slowly lose interest. I caught the end of this game and Clappy's foul fest only because I wanted to watch golf.

I cannot wait for the days where we are relevant once again and a Sunday B1Ggame is my "to do" in February.

Looking at what's left on IU's schedule, there's a legitimate chance they go 0-5. I'll be surprised if they win more than 2.

scUM making a case to be the 7th Big Ten team. Tough schedule left with 4 road games and home games vs Wisconsin and Purdue.

Also it was laughable that CBS put up a screen with the Big Ten bubble teams and listed Ohio St. No chance there. I think IU is done as well.

Always nice to see IU lose, even if it was Michigan to be the ones to beat them. Michigan dominated this game pretty much all the way through. Commentators even made mention of Illinois calling them "white collar" and how they have become more physical since those comments. Leave it to us to turn their season around lol.

Northwestern with an unnecessary dunk there at the end but Chris Collins went ecstatic. That was awesome. You almost never see a coach show that much emotion.

Northwestern wins, and probably punches their ticket to the Dance.

I hate everything.

Collins going at it with WI assistants in hand shake line over the end of game dunk.:D

He was out of view but I think he was going at it with Greg Gard. But I may be wrong. At any rate, Northwestern making Illinois proud since our own flagship can't do the job. I'll be rooting for them this year. Beyond that, I don't know. I think sustained success like the football team has had will eventually probably make me hate them but right now, I hope the basketball team represents the state well.

I really don't get this "represent the state" concept. Is this a common thing these days? The only team from Illinois that I care about is the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Beyond that, I don't care whether or not any of the teams in the tourney are from Illinois or Alaska or Maine or wherever.

I think it's a fairly rare point of view but, alas, it is a point of view a few people have on here. I don't like NW, so I will RARELY ever root for them. (if they are having a bad year but are taking IU or Iowa to the wire, I'll root for them then)

I am not loyal to the entire state of Illinois and don't care if NW becomes the first school from Illinois to get in the dance for however many years. NW doing well ONLY hurts UofI and nothing else so I won't ever root for them especially while we are down.

Even though this message board is called Illinois Loyalty, it's not actually "Illinois" Loyalty if you know what I mean. ;)

This. An Illini fan simply does not root for the kitties, just like a Cards fan does not root for the Cubs or v/v. I couldn't bring myself to root for NU even if one of my kids had gone there.
