Illini special teams coordinator Tim Salem takes on challenge

While Illini co-offensive coordinators Billy Gonzales and Chris Beatty can build around a two-year starting quarterback, and a handful of playmakers return from the nation's seventh-ranked defense for coordinator Tim Banks, Salem's new charges were one of the worst units in the country.

He didn't know the challenge ahead of him until his son did some investigating on the Internet.

"I almost (soiled) my pants," Salem said.
