Illini Bring Emotion Back in Victory Over Hawkeyes
January 10, 2007 12:15 PM
Illinois rediscovered their emotion, passion, and shooting touch tonight in the squad's first Big Ten conference win, a 74-70 home win over Iowa. Warren Carter, Brian Randle, and Shaun Pruitt each had 16 points, Rich McBride had 15 on five 3s, and Jamar Smith was so jacked-up his enthusiasm was interpreted as taunting and received a technical. The Illini nearly suffered a catastrophic collapse, as the Hawkeyes cut a 9-point lead with a minute to go to just 1 in 30 seconds, but Illinois hit critical free throws to close it out. Next stop, road trips to East Lansing and Minneapolis. Recap. Thread.
